We're seeking a skilled iOS developer with experience in building and delivering apps on the iOS platform including iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch to join our team. You will have a proven track record delivering projects in a timely and efficient manner and to an exceptional standard. To be successful in this role you will need to be self-motivated, comfortable managing your own work schedule and have plenty of entrepreneurial spirit. You will be working closely with our Chief Product Officer, Chief Architect and Head of Technology and you will be committed to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of quality products. You will also work closely with design, QA and Product to ensure our products are on-brand, easy to use and encourage our readers to return time and time again.

As the PinkNews brand grows and expands on to new platforms and into new territories, so must our portfolio of apps. Tens of millions of users engage with our content, products and events every month and the iOS Developer will play a fundamental role in creating an experience that connects our customers to our brand and help us to build a closer relationship with them moving forwards.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the PinkNews app across iOS platforms

• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of mobile applications

• Collaborate with the team to define, design, and ship new features regularly

• Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs

• Help maintain code quality, organisation, and automatisation

• Work closely with the Chief Architect and Head of Technology to assist with problem solving and backend development requirements outside of the mobile space

• Assist in other ad-hoc technical projects when required

• Be the champion for mobile in general and work across teams to ensure we are delivering the best experience for our customers

Skills and experience

• 5+ years experience in iOS app development

• Proficient in Objective-C, Swift, Cocoa Touch

• Experience with iOS frameworks such as Core Data, Core Animation, etc.

• Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning

• Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect iOS applications to back-end services

• Knowledge of other web technologies and UI/UX standards

• Understanding of Apple’s design principles and interface guidelines

• Knowledge of low-level C-based libraries is preferred

• Experience with performance and memory tuning with tools

• Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications

• Knack for benchmarking and optimisation

• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools

• Familiarity with continuous integration

• Shopify experience preferable

• Experience of working cross functionally

• An eagerness to learn new languages and skills

• A self-motivator able to work independently and flexibly with an ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
